How it works

Made for Australians heading into retirement (or already there). Nothing fancy — just your details and a straightforward estimate.

1

Add your details

Your age, super balance, what you spend each year, and whether you’re single, a couple, and a homeowner. No account needed.

2

Why people use it

It’s not personal advice — just a starting point — but it reflects how super and the Age Pension tend to work together in Australia.

01

Super and pension in one view

As your super drops, your pension often goes up. That trade-off is built into the estimate.

02

Minimum withdrawals included

We factor in those minimum drawdown amounts you’re required to take each year.

03

Fits your situation

Single or couple, homeowner or not — the assets test limits are different, and we account for that.

These are rough estimates, not financial advice. Pension numbers especially can differ from what Centrelink actually pays — worth confirming with Services Australia or an adviser before you make big moves.

Making sense of your results

We assume steady spending and returns — life’s messier than that. Use this as a conversation starter, not a crystal ball.

Age Pension assets test

How much super you have affects your pension. Here’s the official assets test on Services Australia.

Minimum drawdown rules

You have to withdraw a minimum from your pension each year — it steps up as you get older (4% early on, up to 14% later).

A bit of extra income

Even $5,000–$15,000 a year from part-time work or similar can make a real difference to how long your super holds up.

When to talk to someone

For advice that’s actually about you, speak to Services Australia or a licensed financial adviser.

Common questions

Is it really free?

Yes — no account, no payment. The calculator runs in your browser, so we’re not collecting your super balance behind the scenes.

How accurate is the Age Pension number?

It’s a ballpark. We use simplified assets test rules, but your real entitlement depends on everything you own, income tests, deeming, and what Services Australia decides. Always worth checking there.

Does owning my home matter?

It does. Homeowners and non-homeowners have different asset limits, and couples are treated differently to singles. Pick what matches you in the form.

Is this financial advice?

No — it’s general info to help you think things through. For advice about your actual situation, talk to a licensed financial adviser.
